Tool and Die Makers
Use tools, machinery, and measurement devices to develop a process to fabricate tools, dies, or parts of assemblies according to specifications. Make and repair dies, cutting tools, machinists’ hand tools, fixtures, and jigs using computer numerically controlled machines or manually controlled machines such as lathes, milling machines, and grinders. Inspect parts produced to be sure they conform to tolerances using micrometers, calipers, gauge blocks, and dial indicators. Must be able to visualize dimensions and shapes by interpreting blueprints and drawings.
