Sales Representatives for technical and scientific products usually travel to the customer’s business location to evaluate product needs. They gather information from purchasing agents, engineers, and accountants in order to recommend appropriate products or services.They require general or specialized knowledge in areas such as chemistry, engineering, materials, biology or electronics to demonstrate products and equipment in order to quote prices, and negotiate sales and service contracts.They prepare documents for orders that are submitted for processing and shipment. They solve problems that may occcur with the product or delivery, maintain customer records on automated systems, and follow-up to cultivate business relationships and promote new and repeat business.
