They estimate the cost and value of oil and gas wells, choose sites for drilling, and direct the testing of wells. They develop plans for drilling, product storage and field processing. They arrange delivery of product to refining locations. Using computers they analyze technical data regarding the location of wells and tests of production equipment. They monitor production rates, and prepare reports regarding all aspects of production. They work long hours, including nights and weekends, often in remote locations.
