Pastors conduct worship services and provide spiritual and moral guidance and support to members of their church. They perform marriage ceremonies, and lead other functions associated with the practice of their religious faith or denomination. They may serve in the military or hospitals as cha;lains, or work in univeersities. In their church, they often work long, or irregular hours, are often on-call, or sometimes part-time. They work in their office, studying, researching and writing, and may attend many committee meetings.They deliver sermons, lead religious classes and read from sacred texts. They plan and lead religious, educational, community service, and missionary activities. They may visit members in hospitals or in their homes. They may provide counsel around marital or personal issues. They may participate in financial planning and staffing decisions for the church.
