Nannies provide childcare in private homes with dontracts that define their responsibilities. Some are live-in positions, others live seperately.They have responsibilities to oversee safety concerns and instruct their charges regarding crossing the street, potential hazards such as stranger danger, and set appropriate boundaries for activities. In doing so, they support the parents in caring for the physical, emotional, educational and social needs of the children. They report problems or concerns to parents and discuss solutions. They model social behavior, and relationship skills. They provide meals, organize play and outings,and apply appropriate discipline.They may teach age-appropriate skills, educationl content, transport children to appointments, doctors or administer medicines as directed and prescribed. They may provide first aid or perform CPR should such issues arise.
