Musical Therapists create experiences using music, dance and movement, drama or poetry intended or prescribed to improve client’s psychological, physical or behavioral wellness.They work in many settings – outdoors or offices, educational, clinical, hospital wards, and retirement homes. They work with individuals or groups They respond to client requests regarding responses to stressful changes or events, reducing anxiety, improving self concept, cognitive functioning, and personality integration or reducing anxiety.They may sing, play instruments or provide programmed musical selections. They assess and design music therapy experiences appropriate to client’s perceptual, physical, sensory or spiritual levels, and relevant needs.They document evaluations, treatment plans and progress notes.
