Farming requires large financial investment in land, equipment, seeds and fertilizer, livestock, barns and outbuildings. Requires business management skills in purchasing and marketing; knowledge of chemical, biological, mechanical aspects is required. Livestock must be fed, watered, pastured, herded, sheltered and there is a wide variety of animals to choose among. Vet services are often required.Trucks, tractors, feed and storage, harvest equiipment require maintenance skills.Planting, cultivating, harvesting and marketing of crops is labor-intensive, with timing/weather factors are critical. Recording keeping can be complex.
