Computer Numerically Controlled Machine Tool Programmers, Metal and Plastic
Machining metal or plastic parts is very precise and skilled work, which is made even more so with machines programmed and controlled by automated machine tools, equipment, and systems. These programmers write programs in the machine controller’s language which are then are stored on punch tapes, magnetic tapes or disks. The programs employ data from job orders, drawings, blueprints, specifications, printed circuit board patterns, and design data. This forms the basis for calculation of dimensions, tool selection, machine speeds and feed rates. The programmer appies this data to write instruction sheets and cutter lists for a machine’s controller to encode numerical control tapes and guide setup. Programmers monitor performance and revise programs to eliminate errors. They retest the proccess to check that problems have been resolved.
