Working within the limits fo state law and in accord with the specifications and scope of the Physical Therapist’s (PT’s) treatment plan, these Assistants provide treatments and procedures after appropriate formal training.. They may assist in the modification of treatment plans under the supervision of the PT, as they report on progress and provide evaluations of results through progress notes and in person. They direct patients in passive or manual exercises and activities, provide therapeutic massage, acquatic PT, electrical or heat treatments. They may apply various oils or lotions in the process. They may direct patients in the use of walkers, crutches, braces, prosthetics, or other devices.They confer with other physical therapy staff to explore treatment results such as observation of patients, range of motion measurements and evaluation of patient responses and reports. They may discuss options for modifying treatment plans or coordinating treatment.
