After graduating form an acredited Physician Asssistant program these health care professionals work under the supervision of a physician to assist in the provision of medical services. Within the paraameters of of state law, they conduct patient interviews, assess and record vital signs, complete physicals,order lab tests, and provide treatment, and information to patients. They may make tentative diagnoses, interpret test results, make decisions about treatment and prescribe medication under the physician’s supervision.They collect and record patient history, data, progress notes and examination results. They also note any advice or direction given regarding therapies, medications, or behavioral modifications recommended to the patient. They may complete insurance reports. They may specialize in areas such as family medicine, pediatrics, cardio, or surgery. Thry work in doctor’s offices clinics, or hospitals, 40 – 60 hour per week or part-time. They may exposed to to disease and infections.
