Equipped with knowledge of medical terminology and office, hospital , clinic and lab procedures Medical Secretaries perform supportive functions. They answer phones, coordinate communications (phone and otherwise) and they schedule appointments, handle billing, compile medical charts, and correspondence, and transcribe dictation.They operate a range of office equipment – voice mail systems, computers, and word processing. They use software programs to produce reports, forms, medical records, and financial statements.They interact with patients on intake and iinsurance forms, as well as handle questions or concerns.
