Industrial Ecologists advocate the consideration and application of the knowledge and science of ecosystems in commercial industry production processes. The objective is to minimize the impact of industry on the environment while maximizing the effective use of natural resources in the production of goods and services. They identify negative eco-impacts and develop strategies and methods to avoid or resolve such harm. They prepare technical and research reports and communicate the results to industry, government, and the public.
