Custom Inspectors are law enforcement personnel of the United States Customs and Border Protection. They are responsible for inspecting all cargo entering the US, viewing the documantation, verifying contents, and clearing it for release. In doing so, they seek to detect the presence of restricted or prohibited items in accord with all applicable laws. They work with freight companies and other agencies to verify contents.They inspect persons and vehicles entering the US to protect against terrorists and terrorist acts. They inspect travelers for citizenship, passports and visas. They enforce trade regulations through local, city, state, and federal law enforcement.They are responsible for finding potentially hazardous material or unlawful contens and prevent anything illegal from entering the US.
